“I feel like I got my dignity back.”
I was talking to my sister, unpacking a personal situation that hadn’t gone the way I hoped. Somewhere in the middle of my sharing and her encouragement, I said, “I feel like I got my dignity back.”
“It never left,” she replied.
Just like that, her words settled deeply within me and shifted my perspective.
My dignity hadn’t left. It had always been there.
That moment reminded me of something important.
Making a decision that doesn’t align with your values does not mean you’ve lost your dignity. Sometimes we choose from fear, insecurity, guilt, or even survival.
That doesn’t diminish your worth. It reveals your humanity.
Being strong does not exempt us from struggle.
What matters most is our willingness to reflect, take responsibility, and move forward.
If you’ve been feeling as though you’ve lost your dignity, let this be your reminder: you haven’t.
Your dignity. Your worth. Your inherent value. They remain.
Sometimes we simply need a moment or someone to remind us.
